trigger plate to trigger guard relationship

In my current Lancaster build I find that the location of the trigger guard is about 3/8" in front of the trigger plate. It seems to me that most pictures I have seen of original they are touching. The tang bolt is right were it should be so the additional 3/8's would not be functional. Is it PC to have them touching?

I don't my ABC's of Lancasters, but if you really gotta have it, you can make a longer trigger plate.

How it comes out is how it comes out, and doesn't really make much difference... HOWEVER, what I would NOT want is for there to be a little bitty bit of wood between the triggerplate and triggerguard.  It will break out.  Make it so that there's either more space, or have the TG at least come up to the end of the plate.

Be careful. With the guard that far forward make sure the spree doesn't break into the RR hole. I guess the reason it came out that way is because you're trying to center the triggers in the guard?

Exactly I am trying to get the trigger in the rear part of the guard. I will watch out for the sprue in the ramrod hole but I think I am OK.

If the sprue is in the ramrod hole, it is no biggie. I cut them off and install another one where I want it quite frequently to get everything to line up the way it should.

If you need to cut it off, just whack it off with a hacksaw. Then, cut a piece of 1/8 inch brass an inch or so long, and 3/8 or so wide. I attach it to the guard by drilling a hole in the guard at the center  of the new location. I drill the hole just a little shy of 1/8" in diameter and chamfer the upper side of the hole.Then file the sprue so as to end up with a round post in the center of the top of the sprue.

Stick that post through the hole and peen it down to fill the countersink (Like a little rivet.) I also solder it once it is in place, but that is probably not really necessary.  Now you have your sprue right where it needs to be.

Wait! that tab, or sprue, is most oftentimes what the trigger guard uses to get fastened to the stock! A cross pin goes thru that tab, holding the guard to the stock.

Don't worry Acer. I have my third graders trained to chant "READ EVERY WORD". They still get it wrong  though. But, then again, they're.................9 year olds.
