I think that if you find some paper grocery sacks, they should be close to thickness and color.

Wade--the use of wood pulp for making paper was not possible before 1845. In 1844 two Canadian inventors worked out machinery for the use of wood pulp. Before that time all paper (except in China) was made with other plant fibers, cotton, linen, hemp. Rev war cartridges were made using rag paper, Civil War cartridges were made with any paper available. John

Thanks John, that narrows it down somewhat for sure, and leaves a bit of flexibility. 

I was curious from the PC aspect, but in actual practice i'll likely use the most convenient source of minimal economic impact.
