perc. double shotgun please help identify
« on: September 22, 2014, 06:27:17 PM »
I am curious about this gun--I think it is a fairly common piece. Look at the first 14 pics.  I'd like to know what I have here. Its in pretty decent shape and I think its fully functional. Its not in my hands yet--my Dad has it.

thanks Ken

I think I can just make out the Liege Belgium tower proof mark on the left hand barrel, just forward of the lock.  There should be more proof marks on the underside of the breech area.  It's a Belgian made, export quality, double gun.  If the barrels are in good condition, it most certainly could be used.  It all depends on how pitted/dented/bulged they are.  Have the barrels evaluated by someone experienced with antique double guns before trying to fire it.

Belguim made gun for the export market with iron barrels if the ribs are brazed on then it is late 1800 or early 1900
