On the Hawken rifle I'm building, I started to cut out a cap box from sheet steel. I was wondering if I could fit the lid and then bend both the box and lid to fit stock profile or will I end up with issues of the lid fitting? I'm thinking that it could be really hard to get lid to fit properly if I bend the box first then cut out and fit the lid. I'm copying one that can't be purchased anymore or at least the tag on it claims to be hand made. This is different then building a patch box for a flintlock.
