Pewter learnin' horn
« on: April 03, 2015, 01:50:10 AM »
After Tim Crosby's fine tutorial on pewter bands I just couldn't stand it, had to give that a try.  Here's the result of the first attempt, plus an antler + horn turned tip and a wild cherry plug turned from a hunk of cherry I cut out of my woods a few seasons ago.

Osprey,
You obviously follow directions well from the looks of your horn. That really came out nice.

Looks good for the first one. One thing you may want to try is to taper the band on the side opposite the base so there is not such a large step.
Nice turnings and choice of horn.

Thanks Tim, I was a bit scared to take it too thin on the first one not knowing for sure how it was going to work.   Neat process though, I'll definitely do some more when I get more pewter to play with, only had a small bag of casting pebbles on hand.
