Time to step forward
« on: March 09, 2015, 09:32:33 PM »
Hello everyone.
I am a long time lurker here and think it's time to introduce myself. Have always been fascinated with muzzleloading from the time I was a child.(Davey Crocket and Hawkeye TV programs reinforcing the numerous library books I could find)  I built my first rifle, a Hawken, with the help of Bud Brown's book "The Way We Did It" and a Kit Carson blueprint in 1978. Since then, nothing else, until I retired in 2010 from teaching Biology for 38 years. Have completed 4 rifles since then. You, as a group, have helped me immensely with the information contained in this forum. I could usually find an answer to my questions without asking.

Welcome, Windjon! I lurked for a while, then jumped in with both feet, and never looked back. I hope you enjoy the forum even more!

Great work, great talent windjam. When I read tour post, I got to thinking about how many people with your talent don't use or know about this site. I have a brother that's a  master gun builder, who has never used this site or became a member. I've tried to talk him into joining, and think I'm making some progress.

Thank you all for the encouragement. I have learned a great deal from this forum and hope my skills improve. I am amazed by the skill exhibited here and the willingness of its members to share their knowledge and expertise. You will certainly hear from me as I work on my next two rifles, a Southern Mountain and a Vincent.
