going to do it

Well going to try to build again. Got a 38" x .54 smooth barrel , a maple plank ,
and a Dickert lock. Going for a southern but not too deep southern smooth rifle.
Jack DuPrey is helping with a pattern.

 If you have JACK helping you it will be made right .He is a very good rifle builder. Hope to see him tomorrow at our Three Fires meet at Broken Lock Muzzleloaders gun club near Alma Mi.

Welcome to the madness......for some reason, we start to only make "one" rifle......then all of the sudden, we find ourselves years later, still building, wishing for a old log cabin shop with a pot bellied stove and ornery Tom cat for company.........

Crazy hobby....... ;D

You'll know it bad when you have most of the supplies phone numbers in your cell phone, and know their first names...... :D

Daniel,

If you are going to build a southern gun, as in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, etc., you might want to consider using an English styled lock, rather than the Germanic Dickert lock.  The Dickert would be good for a southern Pennsylvania gun. ;)

Going to move ahead with the Dickert, because I dropped it and chipped the tail end.
