.75 cal American musket
« on: April 30, 2015, 02:14:53 PM »
I'm just finishing up this American "COS" musket. It's cherry stocked .75 caliber tapered round 48" barrel, Chambers Early Ketland lock, Gohring butt plate, English style acorn trigger guard, Bess type side plate & ram rod pipes, wood rammer, lock & bayonet are marked "FRED g 1776". The gun tips the scale under 10 lbs without the bayonet. It has a drilled .075" touch hole, hits about 4" high at 20 yards with a .735 ball, .015 spit patch & 90 2F. It goes off and shoots nicely.

Should be lighter then a "Bess", which I don't remember how much they weigh, but if your gonna carry it lot, will make it pretty handy.

Looks nice in cherry. What do you think dead on at 75 yards? Should let the air outa a moose's lungs. ;D
