barrel inletting services
« on: May 26, 2015, 03:29:17 PM »
I noticed that Gunstocks Plus was shut down last year due to a fire.  I wondered who some of the rest of you use here on the eastern half of the country for inletting work.

I use Mark Weader
Jack's Mountain Stock Company
101 Cave Ln,
Mc Clure, PA 17841
(717) 543-5370 Probably will have to leave a message he works a regular job but is usually in the shop in the AM but if running machines will not hear the phone.

His work is as good as any I have seen.
Dennis

Dave Rase does a simply beautiful job. Listens to what you want and in my humble opinion values his time and tools a bit too low.

I'd second Mark Weader, but wait until he finishes my barrels before you call him. ;)

I live in the middle. I use Weader and Rase, both do excellent work. The PO makes a fortune off of me. ::)

..and from me too Mike.  I've used Mark Wheland, Mark Weader, and David Rase, and paid huge for mailing from North Central British Columbia.  I have had perfect work from all three of the above, but David is closer, and I prefer his work.

This is a great topic since I was about to ask the very same question. So now that we have several options, my next question is what is the average turn around time for each of these gentlemen

Varies from guy to guy, sometimes 3 weeks , sometimes 3 months. Wildly depends on their individual work load. None of them are going to leave your stock sitting in the corner, these guys seem to like their pay days. ;D

Thanks Mike, thats about what I had figured or at least hoped for. Not that it matters as I have had a couple of barrels, and stocks that I have needed to send off for several years now. So I am not in a huge hurry.
