Who made my barrel?
« on: July 01, 2015, 12:13:58 AM »
https://www.flickr.com/photos/125258517@N08/18687942623/in/dateposted-public/I'm trying to identify a barrel I have. It has 6 equal lands and grooves. The only marking is a small oval with what looks like a long legged U in it. One leg has a small M or W toward one end and the other leg has a line curving around that makes it look like a small P. I'll try to post a picture of a drawing of this touch mark if I can figure out how. Got a picture added of a drawing of the touch mark. Click on the url and it will open the picture in flickr. Hope someone will recognize it. Thanks in advance.

Sorry Bob - I've never seen that mark before.

Thanks for the reply. The mystery continues. I had one friend who guessed Lynn Weimer but I can't confirm that because I've never seen his touch mark or even know if he had one.

Thank you very much. Can you tell me anything about him? I've heard the name before but don't know if he's still around and making barrels or not.

I've bought a few barrels from them. They are in Florida.  Riley Smith was the fellow I dealt with some 20 years ago. I think his son is involved now too.  Buckeye Barrels  [ Chambers ] is a distributor.  Some of Chambers kits use Long Hammock barrels.

Good barrels, but maybe not as well known as some makers.
