the KY riffle is slow....too hot for tomtom to work~ but I did put the buttplate on, and zip off some bulk...........
 
 
 

this what skittle says to do.......  ;D
 

when it gets below 1000degrees in the shade...i will take my rasp.....and take MORE wood off the butt area, make the cheek, slim the wrist etc....
but it's like the surface of Venus here in lower Tn......and I ain't in no hurry!!!  :P

I like that you're doing the build out of the normal order, where the lock goes in before any butstock carving.  The way you're doing it allows you to get a feel for the shape of the wrist before setting in the lock which could be an advantage.  Not really any downside, as it's pretty easy to see where the lock and trigger will go once the barrel and breech are inlet.
It's not as hot here in southeast Virginia, but boy is it humid!
