Working on a jaeger and the steel guard needs bent. Is this done hot or cold?    Thanks in advance, Mark

It depends on how much you need to bend it. For what it's worth its always safer to heat any steel unless it is carbon steel like a frizzle, springs or trigger parts. They need annealed and then re-hardened and tempered. Bob

Heat it, it will bend much easier. A lot of the steel guards i have run into almost act like a spring. In that you can try to bend them a little but they only flex and return back to original postition. Push them a little farther and they will crack just like a spring that has been pushed to far. Ask me how i know! 😳 Heat your guard to at least red/orange then bend it.

Thanks guys. For some reason I thought some of them were more like cast iron and couldn't be bent much if any. Thanks again, Mark
