Up-Date On The 100 yd 33 Cal Pistol Drop
« on: June 18, 2015, 04:36:18 AM »
Shot the 100 yd  pistol match today with my 32 caplock with 15 grs Swiss . We were all wondering
about how much drop I would have . Well here is the target. So far I'm in 1st place but the shoot
is not over until Sunday. I'm at Friendship.

Good shooting. Was the pistol a home built or one of the fine European imports like a Hege/Sieber from years ago??

I can't show it here Bob. Would not be right. It's a modern one I had made about 20 years ago.
Rob Lewis is the maker. Rayle barrel. I use 15 grs Swiss  and Hornady "0" buck .010 patch
with Mr Flintlocks lube . The drop was about 8 inches so I went up one complete turn with
the Bo-mar rear sight and held or tried to hold in the middle of the paper. The little 32
seems to shoot pretty flat. There is no drop, or non that I can see between 25 yards and 50.
15 grs of Swiss gives it 1000 fps. Let me tell you, that target looked pretty small yesterday
It rains here every day. Wish I had younger eyes "72" years young, but don't we all. Lots
of people here this year

Frizzen,
Thanks for the fast reply. I have practiced long range pistol shooting out to 300 yards but we can't
discuss Elmer Keith's guns and loads here.

WOW - great shooting Phil. So - is it safe to say there was no wind??? I just can't imagine what a slight breeze would do to that little ball at that distance.

Yes it did ? I had a scare Saturday afternoon when another shooter who I can't beat and won everything he shot was shooting it. He shot a score of 70 and mine scored 81X. So another blind hog finds a acorn.
I was very lucky. The wind was about 5-10 mph but it was no problem. Trying to hold on the paper was
the problem.  I shot this one hand un-supported.

Yes- especially FINE shooting, Phil. All scoring and 6 in the black-  hard to beat that with a dang rifle.

My congratulations as well Phil.  That has to be one of those moments in one's shooting 'career' that will always stand out.
