New builder

Here is the progress photo of the Spanish double barrel 12 gauge kit I gave my grandson Jacob.  We always need to welcome new converts to the craft.  We have already shot it.  he is doing a better job than I had expected.  Oh. Jacob is 13 years old, 2 years younger than I was when I built my first rifle.

Quality, schedule, price; Pick any two.

Nice job Jacob, thank your Grandfather for showing you how. I am sure you will soon be able to build one without his help.

That's awesome. I wish I had started at an earlier age. I guess getting started at 51 is better than never starting at all. I hope your grandson sticks with it, he's off to a good start.

Wonderful!

We all talk about how we will keep the longrifle, muzzleloading, gunbuilding alive for future generations.

How do you preserve our long gun? Do it one kid at a time!

Thanks for posting this, Frogwalking.

Aside from passing on the gun building skills; the time spent in meaningful work with your grandson is one of the best, most meaningful, and long lasting gifts you can give him.  I tell you this from experience with my own grandfather.   As difficult as he could be a times,   I treasure those memories.   He gave me a lot of his time.   He did that for all his grandchildren.    The TIME is the most important thing.

couldn't say it any better, those memories will last a life time!As Mark said time is the most important thing. We all say maybe tomorrow I'll make some time and you never know tomorrow may never come.Just doesn't have to be a gun thing, fishing, a walk, turning wrenchs on your car, what ever, even just a bs session. These things will stick and down the road sometime he will remember perhaps even post it here.
