Oops Patch box is a little long

OK This is a little lehigh .40. (thanks for the plans Eric).  I wanted to try to do my own domed patch box.  Looks like I made it a little long.

I was thinking that instead of cutting the patchbox into the dome, which would happen if I shortened it to meet the curve of the butt plate, I would notch the butt plate to accept the lid.  Then file the lid to match the curve of the butt plate.

What are your thoughts on it?

I'd just cut away the brass in the butt plate to inlet the lid.  Then cut away everything that sticks out past the butt plate.  It looks fine to me.

If you look at the Herman Rupp rifle in the KRA Presidents display DVD you will see that the lid fits into the buttplate exactly as Taylor suggested.

Well that's a relief!.  How often do you get lucky enough to make a mistake that prevents you from making a mistake!  Thank you gentlemen!
