Late MZ Buck
« on: December 21, 2015, 04:49:57 AM »
Our late MZ season started here in MD on Saturday.  It's been really warm lately, most of the fall in fact, but a 3-4 day cold spell blew in for this weekend and it really got the deer moving.  Opening night I killed two with one of my flinters.  Filled an antlerless tag early in the evening, watched a few more after that, then shot this nice 8 just before it got dark.  Not the monster I've been after, but decent and I still needed meat for the freezer.  150lbs dressed, killed with a Beck styled .54, roundball load.

Osprey, did you make the rifle? It looks like a JP Beck by the patch box.

Yes, my #4, and yes it's a Beck.  The judges at Dixons didn't like it, but whitetails run out of the woods to surrender to it.   ;)

That is a BIG trophy buck, IMHO.  And that rifle, well, I know he was proud to get shot with such a fine, well made gun.
