I am refinishing an old CVA cap  lock and wondering what is the best way to Brown a already Blued Barrel?  Would I have to completely strip the bluing off?

Thanks,

It won't take you that long to sand five flats with 320grit paper/cloth.    I would sand first and either wash in Dawn or wipe down with Acetone.
