Lehigh Valley Rifle

Hi, I got so many comments about my Lehigh Schimmel that I thought you would like to see the fancier version.  All comments welcome.  Thanks.

Very nice carving!  It "pops" as Allen Martin would say...

Your triggerguard and buttplate are a little "heavy" meaning they could stand to loose some weight...   Thinner....
Look at some originals and you will see what I mean.

How is it stained and finished?

But overall VERY nice work!

TG and BP are the pre-engraved imported type seen on several rifles in RCA. Finish is LMF walnut stain over scraped wood topped with Chambers oil then sprayed flat black' rubbed back and more Chambers oil. This makes the carving stand out even though its very low relief. It has a Getz barrel, Chambers GA lock, and wood by Knob Mountain Muzzleloading. Thanks for all comments.

Anyone notice the wierd tree growing over the rock?

Yea,  I saw the tree growing out of the rock. Anything is possible in Benton with that nuclear reactor just down the road.   ;D
  Nice gun Nate.

Really good work in my opinion. I think you should keep at this style, you have a knack for it. Thinner with the lock panels next time.

This might be a silly question, but what is the historical time frame for a rifle of this style?

I tried for 1780-1790 but you could argue the point. Anyone else?

Nice looking rifle Nate.  Looks like you have a knack for building dry-laid stone walls as well!  Thanks for posting the pics.
