Colonial American script source?
« on: January 03, 2016, 10:16:28 PM »
Where can I find authentic colonial American script patterns?  For example, block prints and cursive prints.  I want to transfer prints onto metal and horn to engrave.

Thanks in advance.

Try www.waldenfont.com  and search for "The Minuteman Printshop".

If you don't feel like paying 50 bucks per font, check out http://www.fonts101.com/.  You might have to search though a few hundred to find what you want but there are defiantly some olde style fonts with the long s's...  and ss's...

Here is one I found in a few min...  http://www.fonts101.com/fonts/view/Uncategorized/25014/Colonial_Dame

Check out this as well:  http://www.orbitals.com/self/ligature/ligature.htm

Do you refer to Copper Plate Gothic that, I believe, is the text pattern of the Declaration of Independence? If you do, I have PostScript Type 1 collection for it. As a retired graphic designer, I may have several others in my archive drives.

Naphtali, thank you - let me see how far I can go before I cry out for your professional help.  It's much appreciated.

Breadhead and Bach, a sincere thank you for the links provided.  This is the ticket I needed and got.

Rase, thank you for the suggestion for colonial newspapers.  I'll certainly research that angle a bit more.

No professional help intended. Just help, if needed.
