Well he certainly had good taste as well as being a good maker.
And he must have had Kindigs book like most of us ol' guys did at the time, as the cheek carving is after Adam Ernst, and the tang inlay that of John Armstrong!
And amazingly to me, I copied the carving and inlay from those same two makers on the first rifle I made back in 1980, although Mr. Hamm did a much better job than I did.

The flash guard for the mule ear is quite interesting.This can up just recently on another thread.Hate to reinvent wheels.
