Spring thing...
« on: March 23, 2009, 07:13:59 PM »
Eight of us got together for a stroll in the snow yesterday.  Two of the fellows showed up late and missed the photo-op.  We walked on the trail we've been using all winter until we came to where we had stopped because of the usual cold, but since yesterday was so beautiful, we decided to go further down the trail, which necessitated breaking trail.  The snow had a crust over powder - up to our crotches.  What a great time!

This last one is as far as we got.  There's another eight or so targets but the going was too tough for us armchair trappers.

Uhhh......third from the left in the top picture I assume is Daryl.  Look at his right hand and then inform him he's supposed to go behind a tree when he takes that thing out.  This is a child friendly board.

Yup, that's me, but that "thing" isn't me.  At that range, mine's invisible.

Note in the second picture, the 'swirl' in the snow that is behind and to the left of Hatchet Jack.  The heel of his left boot makes that as he leans to the right top swing his foot around for another step.  The snow was was too dense to merely pick your foot up and take a step, yet too soft to support any weight.  I suspect we were being held up a good 1 1/2 feet between our boots and the actual ground - might be local  rondy time before it's all gone.   What a thougth that is.

Ahhh, the pioneer spirit.  I bet all of you were a bit sore after that trudging through the white stuff.  I know I would be.  Somehow days like that makes it all worth it. ;D
