ALR at the Frazier Museum in Louisville Saturday, 3/19/16
« on: January 08, 2016, 06:13:44 AM »
*** The date is set:  Saturday, March 19, 2016 ***

Our good friend and fellow ALR member PTK has managed to get us invited back to the Frazier History Museum in Louisville!  We have visited the Frazier, as an ALR group, several times in the past and it is always a good time, with many, many great old guns and accouterments to see.  http://fraziermuseum.org/

We will meet at the Security entrance on the North 9th Street side of the Museum at 9:00am on Saturday, March 19.  There is parking right across the street from the Security entrance.  Please bring a rifle you are working on, or have recently finished, or a knife, bag, horn or any item of interest.  We have the Board room that overlooks the Falls of the Ohio reserved for the morning to discuss the items brought in.

After our meeting, the Frazier staff have arranged to have an interpretative presentation for us on Col. John Floyd, Kentucky surveyor in the year 1781.  After the presentation we will break for lunch at a nearby restaurant and after lunch we will tour the museum.

If you are planning to attend, please reply to this thread so we can give the Frazier staff an idea of the number of attendees we will have.  Looking forward to seeing everyone there.

-Ron

I like March 19th.
I would then also take in the International Fly Fishing Film Festival.
Also in Louisville on the 17th.
SO if anyone has this as a second hobby, Now you have two reasons to be in Louisville.

I have no preference on the date but if it would help Pat for a "Double Duty Visit" I would vote for the 19th.

So far we have 4 responses that will probably attend and 1 maybe, plus Paul and I, of course.  Surely that's not everyone that wants to attend.  We need to give the Frazier management a ballpark number of attendees soon.

The Frazier is a wonderful history museum with firearms as a central theme.  Past attendees will tell you our visits have been very worthwhile.

Please reply here if you plan to join us on March 19.  Thanks.

Plans for the Frazier visit have been finalized and we still have room for a few more ALR members to joins us, so come on.  Reply here so we know to expect you.

On Saturday, March 19, we will meet at 9:00am at the Security entrance on the North 9th Street side of the Museum.  There is parking right across the street from the Security entrance.  Please bring a rifle you are working on, or have recently finished, or a knife, bag, horn or any item of interest.  We have the Board room that overlooks the Falls of the Ohio reserved for the morning to discuss the items brought in.

It should be a great time.  Hope you can join us.

Yesterday a small but enthusiastic group of seven ALR members met at
the Frazier History Museum in Louisville. HOWEVER, KY-FLINTER WAS
NOTICEABLY ABSENT, which afforded an opportunity to talk about him  ;D

Clockwise from left: Pat Cameron, Jeff Talbert and his nephew, Joey R, Clockman and Clark B.

The museum staff was extremely helpful, providing parking, use of the Board room, an
interpretation of John Floyd in Louisville in 1781, and admission to the museum all free
of charge.

Each member brought some items for discussion. After a break for pizza at a nearby
restaurant, members spent the rest of the afternoon touring the museum.

Many thanks to Julie Stevens and her staff for their hospitality.

All the best
Paul

YES! Thanks to Julie for her conveying the hospitality of the Frazier. As far as the KY-Flinter fiasco the jury is still out ::)
