I just got my parts back from the engraver today.

The rifle is the last kit from Don Brown, lock is a Roller.  I was in the process of getting the parts bought for this rifle when Don passed away a few years ago.  After a few months, I contacted his widow and got the parts bought.

Now some color case and rust bluing, the rifle will be done.

On top of the plug is a Griffin.  My Rigby has one and I really like it and wanted one on this rifle.  For those that dont know, Griffins are known for guarding treasure and priceless possessions

Can't see them good enough but the trigger guard needs a border around the engraving on the bow.

How do you take pictures of  parts like I have without having the flash shine on everything?  I took 25 pictures, different angles, different lights and this was the best one, and I was not happy with it.  tried with no flash as well.

thanks

You need to make a small photo tent. Or photo it outside on a cloudy day or in the shade. Look up photo tent.

You might also want to try oblique lighting.  Turn off, or if possible, dim overhead lights, and illuminate the piece with a light source from the side, and don't use a flash.

Art,
If taking pics of smaller items, like a lock, an opaque gallon milk jug will work.  Cut the bottom out, arrange your items, place the jug over them, and shoot thru the spout without flash.  Arrange lighting around the jug to achieve your desired effect.  In doing so, you should not have any highlights or shadows in your picture.
