Superb job on that rifle.  The original Klette is one of my favorites, especially the sideplate and patchbox.  As some others said, I think I like yours better than the original!

Just fantastic Ed.

I might have missed it, but how long is that barrel?

I also note that you positioned the rear sight pretty far forward.  I am guessing either the original was that way, or a guy with old eyes like me is the proud recipient.

I like the way the guard came out.  When I saw it last it was a carved wood pattern version.  Nice to see the final product.

I also appreciate the cool photo with you bag, horn and flag.  Did you pose that one?  Well done in any event.

Keep up the super work Ed.  Best wishes,   Marc

Ed,
This is a wonderful rifle. Super job. And thank you for sharing on the forum!
(I am one of probably very few that don't prefer the aged finish but that's just me  ;). )
About how much does this rifle weigh?

Thanks again, all...,very much appreciated.

Scott, I didn't weigh it, lol...  I would guess it's in the 8-9lb range, as the barrel is fairly hefty.  Despite that, it balances very well with that weight.

Marc, I believe the barrel length on the Klette pattern is 42".  The rear sight is 12" from the breach, which is typically where I place them on American pieces, even "early" pieces, unless otherwise requested.  And yes, I do that mainly for "old eyes", of which I have a pair as well.  Typically, you'll find "early" guns had rear sights that were closer to the breach than what you see on later and "Golden Age" pieces.  I believe that to be a carry over from Europe, where many European hunting rifles had rear sights closer to the breach.

The photo that has the bag, horn and flag was taken by a photographer, as were the ones with the board as a back drop.  I did the ones with the burlap background...

Thanks again!!

Love all about it Ed! Super rendition.
This is one of my favorite American pieces and even more so after seeing it in person a few years ago.
