Wanting to change the profile on an investment cast steel trigger-guard (changing the bend of the spur to more of a "J" configuration - the tip of the spur points forward at present).  I've gently bent forged steel  hardware with no problems before, but never investment cast, but assume getting the whole trigger-guard red hot in a forge, and then gently working it on the horn of an anvil will work without any problem...any suggestions or advise?

Found some limited  info via web search, but another opinion can't hurt...  Thanks in advance for any insight or suggestions.

That will work. The challenge with bending a near finished piece is getting a smooth result. There's no extra material to allow you to achieve that by filing.

For something that small and fine like a grip rail spure,  I would heat just the area to be bent with a torch and bend with round nose pliers.

Agree with Elliott

Do get it well above the temperature at which it shows a blue temper color.
For some reason I do not understand, steel has something called "blue brittleness"

Just barely glowing red should be fine
