Tom and others:
I was the fortunate one who was able to photograph and measure this piece. I had sent the measurements in a Word document, and for some reason, the measurements from "Butt width" down show the fractions as "s" or "j".
The measurements are:
Butt width: 1 3/4", Butt height: 5", Cheek-piece width: 1 3/4", Width at lock tail: 1 1/2", Wrist width: 1 1/4", Wrist height: 1 3/8",
Ramrod pipe length: 1 1/4", Muzzle to front of first pipe: 5", Muzzle to front of second pipe: 18 3/4", Muzzle to front of rear pipe: 30 1/4", Lock plate length: 4 1/2".
It is reported that this Beck has been one family for several generations. They originally settled in the Lancaster, Pa. area in the mid 1770's.
With regards to the thoughts of the patchbox perhaps being replaced, that I don't know. If so, I would think it had been done a long time ago. Overall, as you can see, the wood/metal fit is excellent and there is a wonderful patina on the stock, barrel and the brass furniture.
