Jacobsburg Historical Society Apprentice Gunsmith class
« on: June 21, 2016, 01:41:16 PM »
Has anyone taken this class?

I'm fortunate enough to live about an hour from them and I've been thinking about doing the class for a while. I may, no pun intended, finally pull the trigger when they run it this fall.

Seems like it'd be a fun experience.

If anyone's taken it, does it provide a background to be able to start building rifles without assistance after the class?

I highly recommend the class.
The instructors are accomplished collectors and builders.
The class includes all skills and material to finish a "barn gun".

Thank you!

I talked to Dave Ehrig about the class at Dixon's last summer, and I've been nosing around it for a while now. I think it's time to just do it. They even were kind enough to schedule them on Sundays, since it overlaps our archery season, and since we can't hunt on Sundays here, may as well build a gun. :)
