Walnut, mostly 'cause I've got maple and cherry, and walnut would be a nice addition. And .32 for the same sort of reason.

The walnut is beautiful.i was sure I wanted maple until I saw the walnut stock on kingsburyarms rifle.man it's sharp.i was considering the 32cal myself.but I can deer hunt with a 45 in Illinois.but then again we have lots of tree rats.

Maple has always been my first choice, but for some reason, I really like walnut on these rifles.  I've made a few in cherry and I like this a lot too, even though it's not too historically correct.  That said, I have a good stock of really nice maple.  Both red maple and sugar maple.  Thanks for the interest.

I chose walnut for my .36.  I love the look & aroma of it.   8)

Got a 40 cal  with a real nice piece of Q-maple coming in about a week :)
Had a nice piece of Birds eye that I wanted Jim to use ; but it was about 1/2" to short for his pattern; didn't want it to be too fancy.
Guess I'll just have to have a fancy stock one! Ha!
I'll post some pictures when I get it.

I opted for a 45 caliber in walnut.  It's a relatively small sampling, but that's what the originals that I've seen have been stocked in.

I got the 40 caliber in extra fancy maple. Turned out very nice. Hard sugar maple with lots of curl.

I also ordered a maple with the fancy wood upgrade. The curl is consistent throughout the blank and very attractive.  Mine is 40 cal.

So far I've fitted the butt plate, filed most of the steel parts, draw filed the barrel and fit lugs/sights.

It's a very attractive kit.

I ordered a .45 in cherry mainly because I don't have a cherry-stocked rifle. I wanted something different.
