Maudlin warranted flintlock

Could someone let me know who made the Maslin Warrented locks. Just unfamiliar with them. Only have used Siler,L-R on the few guns I've built. I do know they lack quality but are good speakers. Thanks for the input.

Many years ago, CVA had a Spanish made Maslin lock. I put one on a pistol I made some 35 years ago. As you say, not a real high quality lock but a reliable sparker. There may have been some other makers using the "Maslin" name, but I don't know of any.

Russ Hamm made a Maslin lock beginning in the 1960's. The moulds were paid for by
Bill Large who furnished the antique lock they were made from. The man that handled
that transaction was known for being indifferent to who got what and "exclusive"contracts
meant little to him. "Doc" Carlson that owned Upper Missouri Trading Post told me he saw
items that he paid for in Dixie's catalog before he got any of them. Dixie was NOT complicit
in this bit of poor business practices.
The Maslins Hamm Marketed were not any attempt to make a quality lock available and I
rebuilt a lot of them and marked them as "Roller Rebuild". Hamm told me I was crazy to
take the time I did in making these parts.The cast parts became available to one and all when
Bill Large told the foundry that produced them that they were "Public Domain"items for
anyone who wanted to use them. All components,internal and external were made form the
original lock Bill furnished.
These parts are still available as far as I know from Jerry DeVaudreuil in Wooster,Ohio,
1-330-234-4500. He has no E mail.

Here is what Paul Harvey called the rest of the story. When Jerry DeVaudreuil bought the business he got
all the molds and parts then available.The problem was that about half the moulds and tooling belonged to
other people including me.I had a fancy caplock hammer mould in that bunch and gave it to Jerry so one
small head ache was gone. Jerry sued this fellow and before it got to court,the guy died and no more action
was taken.Bill Large had no further interest. I don't know what any of the others did and until today I hadn't
thought of it since about 1985.

Bob - Do you recall the name of the foundry? I was there decades ago, all I remember is it was in a northern suburb of Detroit, just west of I-75 and I believe it was on 12 mile road.

At the time they also cast nice stainless hood ornaments for some guy who provided them the waxes.
