Depending on the Plastic it may become brittle (where it is stored makes a difference, as for the Plastic, out of the Sun light) over time and will crack when you least expect it. A Glass bottle with a Glass stopper is the best, Flea Mkt find  but still stored in a cool shady area.
I had some one time that I thought was inert so I put it in a Mason jar with a metal top, Wrong the top disintegrated. So I threw a bunch old rusty Barbed Wire in it, that slowed it down.

Brown glass bottle, plastic cap.

Pharmacies that mix or compound drugs on-site will have them in various sizes.  They will probably sell you a few if you ask nicely.

unless you are compounding your own nitric acid, I would say the original container it came in would be best.  Other than that, I agree with Tim... A glass acid bottle with glass stopper.  You can get these mail order from scientific supply stores.  And like Tim, I also tried a mason jar with a sealed metal lid, but the fumes from the acid ate through the lid in about 6 months, and had totally disintegrated it in 9 months.  Acids are tricky things to store, so glass is always your best bet.  Plastic will work here, since we aren't talking about aqua regia, but there is a reason there are special bottles made to hold acids in laboratories.

I have some in a pottery jar with a cork stopper. It's pretty much neutralized , but I didn't want to seal it too tight. The stopper has a card with a pin stuck in it labeled " poison"

If you have a strongly acidic solution, it's a good idea to keep it stored far away from any metal tools. I once stored a bottle of aquafortis close to a canvas carving tool roll, and soon after found the canvas falling apart and the chisels browned on one side. This was despite the aquafortis being in a brown glass bottle with a plastic screw cap. I now keep my aquafortis bottled and also inside  closed plastic ziplock bag on the far side of my shop away from any tools.

Some pharmacies will sell you a regular acid bottle. They have a plastic cap but it is a special kind of plastic.
Any brown glass bottle will work fine but if you can't find a acid proof cap pour some bees wax in the plastic cap you have and it will be OK for a long time. The bees wax is acid proof and will act as a gasket.

I second Hemo

Store the stuff well away from anything which you do not wish to rust or corrode.

As in tools, firearms, clocks &c.

Yes, i know from experience.

I have mine stored in a Nalgene bottle that is in a cabinet out of the light. It hase been in that container for about 7 years (two qts when I first got the stuff now less than a qt).  The solution still works as it did years back but a bit slower now. Glass is great except that it can break and then you have a real mess. I have lab grade bottles with tight leak proof caps.  Have a read on the bottle <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nalgene>
