I was looking at southern rifles in the virtual library on this forum and I am wondering about the trigger guards on these two rifles, the ones attributed to Philips and Parker. From my untrained Perspective if one views them as a silouette they have the general look of an antique rifle, as one begins to look at the details they both become more distinct and the fine details make them increasingly unique. My question is the trigger guards seem to be the most distinctively different feature of these two rifles. Specificaly speaking of the common design elements which were normally incorporated into the features of antique rifles. I have seen no comment addressing the trigger gaurds below the photographs. What are the thoughts of the experts on this, as I am not, and rather new to this subject.
