Need a wide blank
« on: November 16, 2016, 02:56:58 AM »
I need a wide Walnut blank for a SxS flintlock shotgun and don't know where to look. I checked all the usual Internet sources and the widest I can find is around 2.5". I think 3" minimum is what I need.
I love the smell of Walnut shavings in the morning!

Talk to Danny at Dunlap  woodcrafts.  I talked with him at CLA about a wide piece of maple for a double barrel shotgun for a client.  Danny said they were going to cut some wide blanks soon and would fix me up.

I bought a wide piece of English Walnut from Dunlap for a 2 Bore rifle. I echo David Rase's recommendation.   They were a pleasure to deal with and I received a blank with perfect grain orientation for such a large caliber rifle. Just what I asked for!
