Very nice deer pat. I haven't had a chance to get in the woods. Maybe a chance Thursday morning. Best tasting venison I ever had was from young bucks. A few years ago I had no venison in the freezer and it was the very last minutes of daylight on the very last day and a nice fat doe came walking toward me. She disapeared down a little gully and I had decided when she reappeared I would take her for the table. In the failing light a deer soon apeared out of the gully and the .50 roared. When the smoke cleared I saw a white tail bounding away. I couldn't believe I had missed. When I looked again I saw legs sticking up in the air. When I got to the spot I found I hadn't missed, but the deer I shot was not the big fat doe, but a very small deer that had evidently come up the gully completely out of sight. Oh well, at least it is dark and no one will see me drag it out. So happens one of the cousins was hunting on the farm and heard me shoot and got nosey. He made fun of me of course, need any help dragging it out? I got an empty pocket, all those kind of remarks. It was very tasty as long as it lasted.
