The finished gun was from a somewhat soft piece of wood. the unfinished was from a nice hard piece of wood. the hard stock came out ok while the softer pirec gave me fits and a headache. Same chisels were used on both stocks. Bob

Hi Bob,
They look great but you certainly can see the difference in the wood. I struggled with some red maple that was softer than would like. Same trouble - hard to preserve details and crisp edges.
