Hidden hinge knuckle patchbox release
« on: February 12, 2017, 08:20:15 PM »
Reading Ed Wenger's thread this morning on his Winchester style patchbox release mechanism reminded me that I was fortunate enough a while back to disassemble and photograph a similar release on a rifle attributed to Jacob Lauck.  This rifle was loaned to me specifically so I could study the release mechanism for my current Sheetz build.  Here are a few of the many detailed photographs I took of the inner workings of said patchbox and release.

David Thank you for sharing. Having an inside look is very enlightening. this really helps see how they were doing things back in the day. It is certainly not overly complicated.

The long release spring is the key to making these things work.
