F & I Style Lobed Horn

 Lobed horns from the early 18thC are out there but I think this one with the tip set up as it is and the more pronounced Lobes makes it more of a F & I type.
 The horn itself is about 13" around the outside curve, maybe a little short. The Butt is Poplar held in by 6 Wooden pins. The tip has panels on it that have a Scallops at the bottom. The color is some old dyes and stain mixed together, there was a neat Brown horn on here a month or so ago and that is the color I was looking for.

Very nice horn!!!! I would have tapered the spout a bit more, but that's me.

 You are right Robby, some how when I drilled the hole I made it 5/16ths instead of my usual 1/4". Once I tapered the hole for the plug I was afraid to take it down much more for fear of the tip splitting.
Got to be more careful.

Oh wow!   

I certainly didn't expect to see that when I opened the thread Tim.  That is WAY cool.  I have to ask, is it an aggressive fish mouth on the butt end?  It looks like the eyes (the two holes) are on the top jaw and the teeth are below. 

The color just knocked my socks off. 

Well done Mr Renaissance Man.

Nice Tim. Lobed horns are interesting to me but I don't make many. Curiously, I am working on one right now too.

Tim - you ever considered using smoke before final wax.  Bet it would have added another layer of depth to the finish.

I prefer a 5/16 inch hole. I think the horn is very sleek as would access the pan very well.

Did the butt grow in there? That is some close work.
