Two Part Screw Tip
« on: August 14, 2017, 05:07:26 PM »
This one is done in the style of a horn found in Virginia shown on page 244 of Dr.Jay Hopkins' book Bone Tipped & Banded Horns.
It is about 12 1/2" around the outside curve, 10 1/2" Tip to Tip. The Maple Butt is about 2 1/4", hollowed out about 3/4s its length and held in by Six wooden pins, staple for strap. The tip of horn is threaded internally 5/8-11, the collar is of Whitetail antler also threaded 5/8-11. When screwed on together they make an attractive tip I think. Color is Rit dye and Brown shoe polish.

Very nice horn there, Tim. Looks like you're putting that great book to good use.    Bob
