Dave K.  I haven't yet, but I will darken the cuts with some oxidizing solution.  But I am open to suggestions for this since what I have tried thus far (Brass darkening solution) hasn't seemed to darken the cuts as much as I have seen on other guns.
I was referrring to the magic marker for temporary use only.  Swab it on, wipe off the surface leaving the cuts darkened, then photograph.

I believe that most engravers use flat black or stove paint the accent the incisions.  Then age the surface if you desire.

Well the toe plate turned out to be a little more elaborate than first planned, but I'm happy with it and that completes the engraving.

Time to start th carving.

Well so far all the pictures in my posts are still there.
Comparatively, I'm sure I'm not as big a user as many others here are.

Who knows?

Real nice work on the wood and not bad on the engraving. It  just needs a little more shading. Think about it some before proceeding.  Shading is always hard even for the pros. It does look better than most originals.
