Hi Folks,
My wife and I took a nice mini-vacation to Williamsburg this last Friday through Sunday. The main purpose was to stop by the gunshop and meet Eric von Aschwege in person. As my wife said, we can see the reason that they hired Eric - personable, smart, talented, and friendly. A great combination. My wife thinks he is good looking too, but he doesn't do a thing for me in that way! ;-)
I took some photos that I thought I'd share with y'all regarding the gunmaking there. Keep in mind it was 100 degrees in Williamsburg about the time we arrived. I am amazed at the stamina and heat-tolerance of folks who work there, especially in period costumes.

Eric displays a longrifle lock he built from scratch. Beautifully clean work.
Eric displaying a triggerguard pattern he carved for casting parts. He noted it is slightly oversized to allow for cleaning, filing and detail work when cast.
Eric and Steve Roberts forging an iron buttplate pattern that will be used to cast the actual plates.

Eric, please correct where I may have misspoken here. Many thanks for the patience in explaining things and answering my questions. Please pass along my thanks to Steve as well. I really enjoyed "geeking out" on longrifles. :-)
Best wishes, and God Bless, Marc
