furure Kibler kit questions ??
« on: August 14, 2017, 08:26:31 PM »
Just wondering??
I am sort of thinking of a future project and am interested to know if the new upcoming rifle kit, which I believe was said will be an early type Colonial style, if it will have a swamped barrel??  And what length barrel?
Really, any information as to what may have been decided yet??
Lock style?? What ever??
And though in no rush, any idea as to a time frame when it might be offered??

Thanks

I think it might be out around the end of the year. There is a post further on down the list on this with info about the kit. The post is titled  "Jim Kibler: Any news on the "new" rifle kit?" It may answer some of your questions.
I am sure the new kit will be top notch, I can't wait to see it.

Probably ought to ask Kibler as I doubt anybody else would know that sort of thing except the man that owns the business.

You'll get the specifics when the rest of us do.  You can either save your money till Kibler releases the rifle or you move on to something else till then.  You just need to be patient.

If I can summarize, Jim offers a Southern Mountain Rifke kit. He has an early rifle kit in progress. I'm sure when he has the details nailed down and it's ready for market he will fill us in. He's a detail guy in my experience. He's asked what else we might like to see further down the road. I'd expect a decision on that to take quite a while and then the development of it another year. Meanwhile he's managing parts and stocks and machining and kits and customer service.

Thanks Rich.  Bigmon, I don't mind questions at all.  The kit we're working on right now will be a bigger earlier rifle as Rich suggested.

The new rifle kit will be pre-rev war in styling, brass mounted and available in .50 and .54 calibers.  It will have a round faced English lock.  The buttplate will be a little over 2" wide and a touch over 5" tall.  The barrel will be 1.125" at the breech, taper to around .800" and flare to around .870".  The length will be 43.25".  It will be available with a wood patchbox or without.

All the care that has gone into our first kit will go into this one as well.  It will be as easy or easier to assemble than our mountain rifle kit.

Hope this helps.  If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Jim

That is all I wanted to know.
Not really when, I can wait.
But I wanted an idea of what I would be waiting on.
And that sounds just about what I am thinking about.
Thanks.
Now I can give it a "rest".
Regards to all

Jim,
Will this new rifle be something close to the "James Faber" Rifle? Ultra cool rifle pictured on the KRA 2013 Presidents CD.
