stock inlays - Who?
« on: August 31, 2017, 10:11:53 PM »
I have a beautiful half stock that begs me for some inlays & possibly a patch box. I'm all thumbs & will not attempt this kind of work but I'd like recommendations as to who works wonders with inlays. I have some on an older rifle & they look terrific; like they were in the wood always.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hard to put inlays in a finished gun, unless you want to refinish it.

Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?

Engraved, brass, silver, what are you thinking? If the gun has a oil finish, and not some poly-something plastic finish, it shouldn't be all that difficult. Look for one of the guys that do restoration work.
