Painted trade knife handles

I've seen a few trade knives around the web with painted handles. Every one I've seen has the handle painted red. Would it be PC/HC to use other colors? I know some trade guns were painted blue, red or even yellow so I'd assume knives could be the same as well, but as stated above I've only seen different shades of red. Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.
