Sterling silver grip cap/pommel

I'm trying to figure out how to attach a round silver pommel to the Pericles of an antler handle. It's not a tang through design but I wouldn't want to peen the tang over anyway since I want to engrave the silver. My only two guesses would be epoxy or tacks filed flush or both. Will
I love the smell of Walnut shavings in the morning!

Solder a stud to the back. Inlet the stud so that the plate is flush. Cross pin the stud or do as I do and use both epoxy and the cross pin.
