I did a little wire inlay this morning and all the advice I have picked up here has proven to be spot on . I've done a little in the past but nothing as involved as this morning's work . The hardest part for me is the design work . I am NOT an artist! I found some templates at Hobby Lobby and they were a godsend . I think it's worth mentioning some of the tips you guys have posted that got me through it .
You can't have your tools too sharp
I also learned the advantage of polished tools
a curved stabber is ok but a small straight one will get it done
don't get in a hurry
minimize distractions-I like music but I turned it off this morning
don't second guess yourself
The old saying about teaching old dogs new tricks is wrong . I'm living proof .
Looking forward to picking up lots more knowledge here . I may make a gun builder yet !
