...or, a visual representation of "labor intensive"

forged from 1084 steel with a cherry handle stained with lye and finished with tru-oil.  I cant decide if I want to age it or leave it in the white.  It occurred to me as I was posting it, that I haven't measured it yet.  It's about 14" overall length.

That is a very nice knife. Personally I would sharpen it and leave it just as it is. I can see that one at the Battle of New Orleans perhaps carried by one of the Tennesseans.

Thanks, Fred! I might put a little cold blue on the guard and pommel and rub them back to a light gray. Now to make a sheath

Nice!  If you are forging that well, you need a maker's stamp to let people know who made it.

I decided the same thing after completing this knife.  My plans are to make a stamp monday morning.  I've got another neat little knife on the bench right now.

I like it also -- I'd leave it as is or if you like give the blade a "rub down" with a cold blue and rub back - if you don't like it then polish it off.

Thanks guys. I’ve been busy at the forge since the weather has cooled off a bit. I’ve got four more knives on the way. These are smaller and have antler handles. I’ll post them all in a week or two.
