i,ve gone as far as i,m going to go on the stock.
so i took everything apart stained and 3 coats of oil so far.
i belive that i,ve read here that you must reinstall the barrel for overnight storage, should i pin it back in or a paper tube with some paper towels do just as good?it,s raining and calling for rain the next few days.

It's a good idea to put the barrel back in a stock to prevent it warping much but if you hang it from a string from the ceiling it won't warp like it would if you leaned it up against the wall or laid it down.

You could stick a wire through the front stock pinhole.

If you sealed the entire stock including the inlets, it shouldn't warp at all.

I screw a small eye hook in the butt to hang it from when drying.  The butt plate covers the hole when done.  I've left them this way for a couple of weeks without any warpage.
