Hi John,
Those are for St. Etienne, France during the 1730s or so. Mike you have to look closely at the mark.  Those are crossed chaffs of wheat not scepters.  it is the mark they used for "luxury" civilian arms.  I don't doubt it was likely made in New England but it used old French parts.

Nice.  I had assumed it was a British mark of some sort.  The barrel is also octagon to smooth, but without any clear demarcation.  Just a slow transition.  Do you also see the ones with the little circles in the shape of a diamond?  this is also found on top of the barrel, but barely visible.

Hi,
The barrel shape sounds French.  Does it have a long  top sighting flat extending from the octagon section, along the round portion to the front sight?  I don't know what the little circles mean.

Looks pretty round to me. I see a French barrel circa 1760 in the Grinsdale book with the same shape. The trigger guard is also very close.
