For some reason I thought those top jaw screws were investment cast! My mistake.
I thought of making a screw plate from an old file, but haven't got around to it yet.

I have two different work shops, three different shooting boxes, and my hunting/shooting cabin all with one of those plates as I would surly be someplace without one when I wanted one. They don't cost much so I have several. I like the idea of yours though as the ones I have are missing some "gunsmithing " sizes, 6x48 for example.
