I have the older edition.  I'd like to get the newer one for the color plates.

The color pages are great, but all the black and white photo's were re-scanned for the new edition.  They are much sharper than my old edition.  The new edition is well worth the money.

I have two variations of the first edition of "Thoughts on the Kentucky Rifle in its Golden Age"

1) About 2 1/2 inches thick, copyright 1960, signed Joe Kindig Jr.

2) About 1 3/4 inches thick, copyright 1960, first printing 1960, with a note from Jay Gaynor that George Shumway had inscribed it to Joe, and presented it to him, but Joe returned it with a notation "Alas, a defective copy" and did not sign his name.  This is, I am guessing, an early second edition that had a few errors that needed to be corrected  in later copies.

If this is a game of one upmanship:
I have 4  of the first editions.  The best one is the Deluxe limited edition(only 200 printed).  It is signed by all the principal contributors and has three rifles in color. Mine is no. 108 of 200
