H.S.J. initials on gun
« on: December 31, 2017, 03:03:40 AM »
Bought this fowler a few years ago from Dixie and it has  the initials H.S.J. on the plate. Anyone have any ideas as to it's previous owner or any details?

Good looking bang stick.  Someone at Dixie may know who it is. A long shot but....
Nothing is hard if you have the right equipment and know how to use it.  OR have friends who have both.

It's a  fun gun. Bigger bore than my 28 gauge that I'm used to, but it's a halfstock fowler so it's a joy to carry in the woods.

Odd step ahead of the chamber area - is that step indicative of a 2-piece barrel?

It's probably a magnum barrel. ;)

It's a 1 piece barrel. I figured it was for reinforcing the area.

Could be a 'T'. Harry S. Truman, probably the gun he used in  the Marne campaign.
